Attack on containership MSC Sarah V is confirmed
The vessel reported by UKMTO on Monday as being attacked has been confirmed as containership MSC Sarah V (IMO 9181675) – attacked 246nm southeast of Nishtun, Yemen. The Captain of the vessel reported an explosion in the proximity of the vessel. No casualties were reported, and the ship continued sailing towards its next port call.
The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) stated that a missile hit the water approximately 50 meters off the vessel’s starboard side.
On June 20th the ship had departed from MORONI anchorage, Comoros.
2000-built, Liberia-flagged, 53,208 gt MSC Sarah V is owned by Sarah Oceanic Inc care of MSC Shipmanagement Ltd of Limassol, Cyprus. It is entered with UK Club. It had been reported as heading for Abu Dhabi, ETA June 28th.
