Houthis claim attacks on Haifa Port
The Yemen-based Houthi militia claimed on Sunday that on Saturday June 22nd they had conducted a military operation – in conjunction with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq militants – that had targeted four ships in the northern Israel port of Haifa.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said on television that two cement tanks and two cargo vessels in the port were attacked by drones on Saturday.
Saree stated that “the two operations achieved their goals and the strikes were direct and precise.”
The claims of strike action could not be verified because there was no independent confirmation. Israel did not have any immediate comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, a drone attack caused damage to a merchant vessel in the Red sea 65nm west of Hodeidah, Yemen the UKMTO said on Sunday. “All crew members are reported safe, and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call,” UKMTO said in an advisory note.
Separately, UK-based security consultant Ambrey released a note reporting an attack, identifying the vessel as a “Liberia-flagged fully cellular container ship”. It said that no seafarers on board had been injured.
