TT Club appoints Ong as chief financial officer
The Thomas Miller-managed TT Club has appointed EeLain Ong as chief financial officer following the departure of Julian Chowdhury. Chartered Accountant Ong has been with the TT Club for 27 years, holding positions at reinsurance and insurance providers and also worked as a regulator, an auditor, and a merger and acquisition corporate financier.
TT Club chief executive officer Charles Fenton said one of Ong’s challenges will be to achieve the profit targets in the club’s business plan through operational efficiencies. She will be focused on simplifying and automating processes along the insurance value chain. “Over her 27-year career she has held leadership positions within finance, treasury and tax at reinsurance and insurance companies, captives, mutuals, start-ups and Lloyd’s syndicates, and across multiple jurisdictions globally,” Fenton said.
The TT Club made a technical deficit of $1.1m in 2021, compared with a $1.5m profit in the previous year. The overall deficit after tax was $2.9m in 2021.
Ong said: “My role in part will be to help maintain TT’s agility to adapt to this changing trade environment, yet remain consistent in delivering its renowned service and claims efficiency.”
